Explore an important elephant corridor connecting Yala and Udawalawe National Parks, built around the Lunugamvehera reservoir, with an experienced local safari driver in a private 4x4 jeep.
Lunugamvehera tours are currently planned as private tours only.

Maximum capacity: up to 7 passengers per jeep.
Lunugamvehera is an important wildlife corridor connecting Yala and Udawalawe National Parks, particularly for migrating elephants that move between the two parks. The park is built around the Lunugamvehera reservoir, with water covering roughly 14% of the park, set among dry-zone scrubland and grassland landscapes. Alongside its elephants, the park is home to water buffalo, sambar deer, wild boar, crocodiles and a strong variety of water birds. With its quieter atmosphere and lower visitor numbers, Lunugamvehera is a great option for families and repeat visitors who've already explored Yala.
Please note: wildlife sightings are not guaranteed. Lunugamvehera is home to a wide variety of wildlife, but sightings depend on the day and cannot be promised on every safari drive.

The Lunugamvehera National Park entrance ticket is charged separately from your safari's base price. Rates are set by Sri Lanka's Department of Wildlife Conservation, so this cost isn't bundled into our package pricing; it's shown as its own line item in your quote whenever it applies, so the final cost is always clear before you confirm your booking.
Elephants and water birds around the Lunugamvehera reservoir tend to be most active in the early morning and late afternoon, when temperatures are cooler. As with any safari, sightings can never be guaranteed and vary from day to day. Exact start times for your safari will be confirmed to match the operational schedule once finalised, so you get the best possible window for wildlife activity.
